Qualifying – Fifth (2:03.6381)
Race Result – Third
Shane van Gisbergen – Car #888
“It was great for the Triple Eight team to get a win with their customer entry (SunEnergy1 Racing), and for us to come away with a podium is pretty awesome. For us, we were never really in the hunt, but we made no mistakes, and we had some really good strategy calls, and because of that we got rewarded with third place which is great. I thought Prince Jefri (Ibrahim) did a great job, especially in the early stages when he was on slick tyres in the wet and he had to stay out there a little longer than what he would have liked, but he did an awesome job and brought the car home for Broc (Feeney) and myself. Both Iman and Broc did really well all day. We did everything right, but we just didn’t have car speed.”
Broc Feeney – Car #888
“It’s been an extremely long day. We ended up on the podium, which is really cool, so you have to be happy with that. It’s been an up-and-down day, but we’ve been in the mix all day which was our main focus. I had some pretty cool stints which made it really enjoyable out there, but we didn’t have the pace like the leading cars had. It was really cool battling with a couple of the European guys today, and I’ve enjoyed driving the car around Mount Panorama today, so hopefully there’s more of this in the future.”
Prince Jefri Ibrahim – Car #888
“It feels great to finish my first Bathurst 12 Hour with a podium. I never expected to achieve this, so it’s a great feeling to share this moment with the Triple Eight family. To share the podium with Shane (van Gisbergen) and Broc (Feeney) really means a lot, and hopefully I can learn more from them and come back next year even stronger. The conditions were really tough out there – one of the toughest races I’ve had. The track was really slippery but I just focused on keeping the car straight so that I could pass it to Shane or Broc when it was their stint, but it wasn’t easy at all. I just wanted to bring the car home without making any unnecessary mistakes.”
